Mirror cap protection

Your mirrors are the widest part of your car — and they find everything.

Mirror caps live a hard life. They sit at the widest point of the vehicle, which makes them the first thing to meet a garage door frame, a carpark pillar, a hedge or another car's door. They're also directly in the spray of grit thrown up by the front wheels.

Then there's the carwash: spinning brushes hit mirror caps harder than any other painted surface on the car.

Your mirrors are the widest part of your car — and they find everything.

Why mirror caps cop it

01

First point of contact, every time

Widest point of the vehicle means mirrors meet obstacles before anything else does. Tight garages and narrow carparks are where most of the damage happens.

02

Straight in the debris stream

Positioned right behind the front wheels, mirror caps take a constant blast of grit and road spray at speed.

03

Carwash brushes are merciless

Automatic washes scuff mirror caps far more than flat panels, because the brushes catch and drag across the protruding shape.

Why replacing a mirror cap isn't just a parts cost

Mirror caps are body-coloured, which means a replacement cap arrives in primer and has to be painted and colour-matched to your vehicle before it goes on. That's paint shop time on top of the part.

On vehicles with indicators, blind-spot sensors, cameras or puddle lights built into the housing, the assembly cost climbs quickly — and a scuffed cap on an otherwise tidy vehicle is exactly the kind of detail that knocks money off at trade-in.

What our pre-cut kit does about it

  • Cut for your mirror's exact shape — Follows the compound curve of your specific cap, including around indicator cutouts where fitted.
  • Handles the carwash — Self-healing topcoat takes the brush scuffs that would otherwise dull the paint.
  • Protects against grit blasting — Absorbs the constant low-level abrasion from road spray behind the front wheels.
  • Fits in minutes — Small area, simple curves, no disassembly. One of the quickest kits in the range.

Common questions

Will the film fit around my indicator? +
Yes — where your vehicle has an indicator, camera or sensor in the mirror housing, the kit is cut to work around it rather than over it.
Do mirror caps really need protection? +
They're one of the most commonly damaged painted areas on any vehicle, and one of the more annoying to repair because they need painting. For a small kit price it's among the best-value areas to protect.
Will it come off in a pressure wash? +
No. Properly fitted film bonds to the paint and handles normal pressure washing. Just avoid holding a narrow-jet nozzle directly against an edge at close range.
Can I fit it over a folded mirror? +
Fit with the mirror in its normal extended position on a clean, dry, moderate-temperature day. Once cured, folding and unfolding is no problem.
