Screens usually aren't a cheap standalone part
On most modern vehicles the display isn't serviceable on its own — a damaged screen means replacing the whole infotainment unit, which is a significant part cost plus programming and fitting.
There's also the everyday chemical risk: sunscreen, insect repellent, hand sanitiser and household cleaners all attack the factory oleophobic coating. Once that coating is gone, the screen smears permanently and there's no restoring it.
